Peace and Justice for Animals formed in 2002 in opposition to the Bush Administration's war in Afghanistan and the imminent war in Iraq. Our aim was to raise a voice for animals and their environment among peace and justice groups protesting war.
Now the wars continue as Obama's wars, supposedly winding down in Iraq while openly escalating in Afghanistan. Protests by peace and justice groups have all but disappeared. The only visible opposition to government policy is from so-called tea party groups.
We cannot remain silent while animals (including people) are suffering. We disagree with most of the current tea party agenda, but we agree on the need for citizens to speak up against destructive government actions. Like the original tea party activists who helped start the American Revolution, we also speak up against destructive actions of multinational corporations.
We are now organizing a TEA Party for Animals, Taxpayers for the Environment for Animals. Please visit our new website, teaparty.foranimals.org
